Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces, the day we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
It is easy to gloss over the real reason for the holiday, what with the three day weekend, the pool, the beach, the barbecues, and the start of summer. Don’t. At 12:01 Eastern Time every Memorial Day a wreath is laid at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery. This Monday, join Americans at that time all across the country and observe a minute of silence and think of those who have given their “last full measure of devotion” in service to their country.
I bet you can think of someone you know.
